JUKE + FOOTWORK MINI-DOCUMENTARY FOR NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO

Nice mini-documentary on the Juke movement out of Chicago.

DJ Rashad vs Jay Z & Kanye West - Welcome to the Chi

This is a pretty impressive piece of Juke work from dj rashad. Goes well hard.

Traxman - Footworkin on Air

Another track from the future. This is my favorite ambient Juke track. This is the only ambient Juke track that I have ever heard.

Jazz 4 Ya Azz - DJ Spinn

And this is more of that killer jazzy Footwork sound by DJ Spinn.

Traxman - "Chilllll" - Da Mind Of Traxman (Planet Mu)

Loving this Jazzy Juke from Traxman out of Chi Town.

Dj juniOr & Dj EdifOx - São Miúdos 2o12

This is ridiculously cutting edge. You won't hear this sound in its full glory for 5 years or so. I love glimpses of future sounds.

Midnight Lab Band - Time Waits For No Man (Side B1)

Sick jam. Don't know much about this band other than that their stuff reminds me of LCD Soundsystem and !!! quite a bit.

Random Rab & Beats Antique present "The Greatest Story Pretty Much Ever"

I love this glitchy claymation filled madness. It reminds me of Fourtet meets Oval meets Prefuse 73 meets Gumby's hood.

Submotion Orchestra - Blindspot (Maribou State Remix)

Another beauty of a remix by Maribou State. These guys could remix my pants into a taxidermic armadillo I think. I don't know what that means.

Uproot Andy & Geko Jones - Etelvina Maldonado - Manuelita RMX

Tropical Bass remix banger from Uproot Andy and Geko Jones out of New York.

C2C - Down The Road /// Irfane (Outlines) Remix

Electro remix of "Down the Road" by C2C. Smooth remix by Irfane (Outlines), which I know nothing about.

C2C - Down The Road

Nice one from C2C remixing some blues tracks into a modern gem. C2C is a team of French turntablists who once won the DMC team turntablist competition. Big tune.

Swing Republic - Drum boogie (feat Gene Krupa)

More Electronic swing/jazz music. Drum boogie remixed by Swing Republic. The jazz footage is June Barton singing "It's Got To Be This or That" with the Emil Coleman Band.

UHT° Jazz Club

Been digging this new glitch/bass jazz genre that just won't seem to die though there is still not too much of it. I have posted about before but I have found a bunch more recently.

Gramatik - Hit That Jive (Original Mix)

Love the old time jazz sound coupled with heavy hitting bass/snare and electronic production/influences. Gramatik's production is amazing on all his tracks, I was instantly a fan. Make sure you check out all his tracks because they range widely in sound.

Schlachthofbronx - Apizaco

This is one of my favorite Schlachthofbronx tracks to date. Makes you feel like you are on a ride to the top. Of what I'm not sure but to the top nonetheless. Love the diversity and maturity Schlachthofbronx have been showing as producers. You can hear them growing.

Post War Years - Glasshouse (Maribou State Remix)

It's been a minute since my last post due to a busy time in my life but things have calmed down now and I'm ready to once again post top quality audio goodness starting with this almost UK Funky/House sounding chillscape by Post War Years, remixed by Maribou State.

Oval - Do While (24 minutes Full Length)

One of my favorite ambient electronic pieces in the human construct of time. Oval is ridiculously ahead of time and quite weird to listen to to most people. I posted Part 1/3 of a 24 minute track called "Do While" a while back but here is all 24 min of it in one go. This track is easier to enjoy if you should happen to set certain weeds that grow in your vicinity afire.

Burial & Four Tet - Moth (HD) (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Great track by the fantastic Four Tet along side The brilliant Burial. The video is terrific too, enjoy.

Four Tet - Plastic People

I give you yet another track from the fantastic Four Tet.

Jan Jelinek - Rock In The Video Age

Jan Jelinek is a master of Ambient/Minimal electronic music. He is great to meditate/zen out/long distance drive to. I posted a track of his on this blog a while back so if you want more check it out: Jan Jelinek - Do Dekor

DONNA SUMMER - I feel love (1977) HD and HQ

It's so good, it's so good, it's so good. Rest In Beats queen of funky disco Donna Summer.

KUTMAH - ALL DABRYE MIX

This is a badass mix of some of Dabrye's best works all sewn together for 1 wonderful hour of music. Brought to you by KUTMAH. Dude knows his shit.

Dabrye - Gimme Lowlands

Haven't posted a chill electronic track for a minute. Dig this Dabrye track. In my opinion, the man is  Michigan's second best beat producer next to King Dilla. There is a great article about him and his production over at Factmag. It has been ten years since his debut album and they break down his 10 best productions. Check it out.

Mosca - Tilt Shift

Mosca commin hard with this beat. I think this is the same Mosca that I posted a few months back, tho the track I posted previously was ill garage whereas this is more of a straight up glitch/glitch hop beat. The man  apparently has diversity in tandem with talent.

isolatedmix 27 - DF Tram

isolatedmix 27 - DF Tram

This is a Soundcloud link to a great 2 hour+ ambient mix. It is a collaborative set that Dylan Yanez (AKA DF Tram) and Amsterdam DJ Rich-Ears put together for the blog A Strangely Isolated Place. The set contains greats such as: Brian Eno, David Byrne, Daphne Oram, Scanner, Kid Koala, The Beatles, The Doors, Pharaoh Sanders and more. Kick back and drift away.

Squarepusher - 'Dark Steering' taken from forthcoming album 'Ufabulum' o...

New Squarepusher album coming out soooooooon! If you don't know about squarepusher, do yourself a favor and dig through his discography. The dude has his own original, kick the door down approach to electronic music and can play the bass like a mug.

Traxman - "Chilllll" - Da Mind Of Traxman (Planet Mu)

Another Juke banger from Traxman. This one gets mad jazzy while cruising at juke speed.

Traxman - Footworkin on Air

Some space juke from Chicago. This footwork movement is keepin on, I love it.

Basic Channel - Phylyps Trak II/II

This 1994 track deserves to be heard/known more than it is. Instrumental, hypnotic, electronic music at its finest. Basic Channel were/are well ahead of their time. They are a duo out of Berlin and here is their wikipedia page if you would like to know more: Basic Channel.

Footsie - Limbs

Massive!

Giorgio Moroder ♫ Chase (theme from Midnight Express)

The Italian music maestro Giorgio Moroder turns 72 today. He was way ahead of his time, set a standard of excellence and was full of mad change. He was one of the first people using such quality production and electronics to make post-disco electronic dance music (though I think he was approaching it as pushing disco forward). All this piss poor electro that is coming out today must make him want to cry.

In a career that spans well over forty years, Moroder has a strong claim to being one of the most influential producers ever. His ground-breaking work with Donna Summer brought electronic music to the masses with the smash “I Feel Love” in 1977, while the duo’s earlier collaboration on “Love To Love You Baby” set in stone the template for the extended, orgasmic disco mix.

Then there are his seminal pop productions for the likes of Blondie, David Bowie, Sparks and the Human League’s Phil Oakey, plus his revolutionary synthesiser scores for Scarface, American Gigolo and Midnight Express (which bagged Moroder an Oscar for Best Score in 1978.)

Often written out of “serious” musical history because of his poppy tendencies, Moroder’s incredible legacy speaks for itself and has defiantly stood the test of time.

Here’s one of my favourite Moroder tracks, The Chase.

Cedaa - PATAGONIA

Cedaa back with a bouncy track called Patagonia. Fresh!

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Ifan Dafydd - No Good

Wonderful downtempo effort here by Ifan Dafydd. Samples the late Amy Winehouse's immortal voice.

Mosca - Bax

Some great modern/future Garage from Mosca. This Mosca character produces very nice tunes as far as I can tell. Much of his stuff is more chillwave and downtempo than this particular track but is all produced very well. Props once again to the UK, *tips electronic hat.

CDBL - I Need You (Kidnap Kid Remix)

Nice downtempo, glitchy remix of the uptempo CDBL track "I Need You". Remix by Kidnap Kid.

Objekt - The Goose that Got Away (OBJECT001) - Dubstep

So I have been in the middle of a move and traveling for a while but I am back and ready to drop some fresh music in your ear. Here to start out is Objekt creating a dubstep/2 step/post step tune. Futuristic step with a throwback to the UK sound that bore it.

To rococo rot - Testfeld

I posted the track Telema by Berlin trio To Rococo Rot a while back . These guys have such a futuristic sound, especially when you consider when they were first creating it. No one would guess how old this is if they didn't know. That's part of the meaning of fresh.

King Bones & DJ Aaron "Finger Food" New York City Subway | YAK FILMS Fle...

Man these Yak Films dance videos are boss. You will not see a better secret handshake than when the two dancers connect hands at 1:53 until about 10 seconds later when they come apart. Nice beat is "Finger Food" by B'ZWAX, check out his stuff at bzwaxmusic.com

NONSTOP - TAKE ME AWAY | DUBSTEP

You know I like to post ill dancers on this blog every once in a while so here, enjoy some jaw dropping part man, part machine dancing to dubstep. I think this guys name is Marquese Scott aka Nonstop from the dance crew Remote Kontrol (which I also have posted some vids of a while back).

MiMOSA - TigranMiMoSA

MiMOSA by TigranMiMoSA
Sexy, sick tracks from MiMOSA. Not a fan of all of them but there are some keepers to be sure.

Ink Project - Inside The Sun

Ink Project - Inside The Sun (and remixes) - available for download! by Ink Project

A fresh new album from Ink Project. It's like love making trip hop music for soul loving robots... or something. My favorite track (after 1 listen through) is Sordid Hordes.

Susumu Yokota - Kodomotachi

Susumu Yokota is on another level as an artist. This video that this track set to makes it even more intense. I have previously posted Yokota tracks here, search for them if you dig.

Benny ill vs dj Hatcha - crazy intro

This was released in 2009 but it still sounds fresh as hell. With dubstep eating itself alive, its nice to hear its younger roots in garage and 2 step every once in a while to remind oneself that it hasn't always been wobwobwob sounding.

Lianne La Havas - Forget (Shlohmo Remix)

Something chill to match the cold night. Remix by Shlohmo.

Radiohead - Bloom (Jamie xx remix)

And the producer of the year award for 2011 goes to *crumpling envelope sound* Jamie XX.

And the award for rad boy that gets to see Radiohead live in concert in Austin, Tx in March goes to *crumpling envelope sound* me.

The XX - Crystalised (Dark Sky Remix) (FULL)

And the remix of the year award for 2011 goes to *crumpling envelope sound* this remix here.

Eliphino - Devoted

Ok, I'm back in full swing in this new year we call now. I have traveled over 2500 miles in the last 2 weeks via car(s), actually had 13 daze straight of no deejaying (which I think cost me a regular gig but I'm fine with it as I needed to see family and recoup) and been on a couple separate benders with people I love dearly. So after a 3 week road trip tripping party I am back to blog in your ear one more again.

This is Elphino from Leeds UK and is producing raw, bacon tasty like beats such as this. An EP featuring this track was released back in October and you should listen to the rest of it if you dig this. This particular track contains a nice 2 step dance beat with sparse but emotive (vocal) constructs in the vein of Zomby. And the video shot from a plane window fits it like a glove. Enjoy!

Spoek Mathambo - Put Some Red On It

Spoek Mathambo has been creating futuristic songs for a minute now but this one is my favorite so far. Not only does it sound great, production and all, but it is about the diamond industry. I hate the diamond industry/the pain and suffering it causes, and you can too. Go ahead into righteousness, go ahead into the future Spoek!
