Alex Kenji - Tropical Chicks go like dis(Moombahton)

And here is some Moombahton for Cinco De Mayo as well. It is a little known fact that Cinco De Mayo is celebrated in America more than anywhere else so I thought I should post something American with clear Latin influences. Moombahton is just that type of music.

Frente Cumbiero - Pitchito

In honor of Cinco De Mayo he is an out of this world Cumbia by Frente Cumbiero (featuring R2D2?) called "Pitchito".

Dj Cam - London 1995 [Live]

DJ Cam produces mainly jazzy hip hop, trip hop and downtempo but the man has been known to get wicked on some drum & bass as well. I like how he drops the beat out of the bottom at 2:08 and it briefly takes on the sound of a 90s trip hop song only to ramp back up to d&b with some beautiful, jazzy keys creeping in. This is off his first album, underground vibes, from 1995.

Giorgio Moroder ♫ Chase (theme from Midnight Express)

Great electronic song or greatest electronic song? Giorgio Moroder turned 71 a few days ago so to honor him I am posting his epic track from the movie Midnight Express. I found a 12" of The Chase, from 1978, in a collection of dusty, discarded records a few years back, stared at it for a while moon-eyed and then quickly gave it a new home. Though this man was producing disco at the time, his work was so innovative that he ended up sort of signaling the end of disco music and beginning of things to come. His innovative work with synthesizers during the 1970s influenced New Wave, house, techno and electronic music in general. Here is a video of him in his studio and here is my favorite version of Blondie's "Call Me" (I found a 45 of this at a thrift store and discovered, moon-eyed again, that he produced this for Blondie on the B side) which he remixed with a pounding electronic beat way before it was ever cool to do. Even though he has produced and remixed many tracks, none have ever come close to the timeless sounds of "The Chase". With this track alone he solidified himself as a legend in electronic music.

Roska - Elevated Level (Kingdom edit ft. Brandy)

Another quality Kingdom edit, this one aimed at the dance floor. He didn't do too much to the original Roska beat, which is great alone, but adding the Brandy vocal chop where he did is brilliant.

Kingdom - If You Buck

Here is Kingdom's "If You Buck". It seems like an instrumental remix of "Keep It Rollin" by Kid Ink but isn't labeled as a remix.

WIN WIN - Interleave (Kingdom Remix) | HD

I really like the production flowing from the mind of Kingdom. The guy can seemingly remix anything into his own sound. This remix of Win Win's "Invterleave" has been in heavy rotation in my world lately.
